Three siblings were struck by a vehicle while waiting for their school bus Monday morning in Butler County.
An 11-year-old boy died in the accident. His 6-year-old brother was flown to Children’s Hospital with serious injuries and his 9-year-old sister was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Pine Drive and Geibel Road in Summit Township.
Police believe sun glare may have been a factor in the accident. They report that a car approached the intersection, stopped at the stop sign and continued to make a right turn. As they proceeded, they did not see the three children on the roadway. Police are also unsure if the children were standing or sitting at this point.
Police say, between the location of the children and the sun glare, they do not believe there was any wrongdoing on behalf of the driver.
The children were students of Butler Area School District.
