One man has died and several others have been injured after a multi-vehicle accident in Washington Township. Early Monday morning, around 8:52 a.m., an accident occurred near the intersection of Route 66 and Poke Run Church Road. Authorities say the first vehicle was attempting to make a left turn when the car behind him did not stop, the car behind that vehicle did not stop and a fourth vehicle failed to stop as well causing a pile up. Then a fifth car came and swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid the pile up and crashed into another vehicle.
A total of six vehicles were involved in the accident. The man who swerved into oncoming traffic was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Several others were transported to Forbes Regional Hospital for treatment.
The accident is under investigation.
