Nationwide Recall of Ground Beef due to E. coli Sold at Walmart.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) says consumers should check their freezers due to the latest nationwide recall of ground beef. The recall was issued due to a possible E. coli contamination.
Reports say that ground meat was sold at Walmart stores nationwide.
The USDA issued a recall of 40,00 pounds of ground beef products from Lakeside Refrigerated Services in New Jersey.
According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service, the meat may contain E. coli. The problem was found during a routine inspection, according to inspectors.
The meat was packaged on June 1st and distributed nationwide. The products have the establishment number 46841.
The recalled meats were sold under the following names:
MARKETSIDE BUTCHER ORGANIC GRASS-FED GROUND BEEF and THOMAS FARMS GRASS-FED GROUND BEEF PATTIES.
A detailed list of the recalled products is on the Food Safety and Inspection Service’s (FSIS) website.
The meat was packaged on June 1, 2020; however, officials are worried consumers may have some in their freezers. The USDA says to check your meat and discard it or return to your store for a refund.
So far, there have not been any illnesses due to the contaminated meat.
