Lawsuit filed in truck accident involving comedian Tracy Morgan

Though motor vehicle accidents involving large trucks occur on roads throughout the nation, including in the state of Pennsylvania, on a regular basis, they often get little or no attention outside of the group immediately affected by the incident. When a celebrity is involved in one of these incidents however, more people generally hear about it.

By now most people reading this post are likely thinking about the actor/comedian, Tracy Morgan. He was seriously injured last month when the vehicle in which he was riding was struck by a Wal-Mart truck. He was not the only person hurt in the truck accident. One person’s injuries were so serious that they led to death.

The investigation following the crash determined that the Wal-Mart truck was speeding at the time of the crash and that the driver had been awake for 24 hours.

It was recently announced that the comedian filed a lawsuit against Wal-Mart. In it, he alleges that the driver fell asleep while driving and that the business should have known that the driver had gone an extended amount of time without sleeping before getting behind the wheel . As is the case in most lawsuits such as this one, he is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.

Regardless of who it is who is hurt in a truck accident, while healing those individuals go through many of the same things. In addition to contending with the physical pain the injured person may have to deal with emotional matters related to the crash as well. As most people experience similar things following a crash, it makes sense that they may take similar actions such as filing a lawsuit against the responsible party.
