Jenni-O is recalling 91,000 pounds of ground turkey products due to a salmonella contamination.
The recalled products include one-pound packages of:
- Jenni-O’s 93% lean ground turkey
- Jenni-O’s 85% lean ground turkey.
- Jenni-O’s taco seasoned ground turkey.
- Jenni-O’s Italian seasoned ground turkey.
The recalled products have a best by date of October 1st and October 2nd, but officials fear some people may still have them in their freezers.
The products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
So far there have been 164 illnesses and one death linked to the contaminated turkey products.
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause a serious infection. The elderly, children and those with weak immune systems can have serious and even fatal complications.
