Although the safety problems may seem minor compared to the earlier recall of the Chevrolet Cobalt’s faulty ignition switch, they can potentially lead to serious injuries. The largest recall among the group is a taillight problem involving the 2004-2012 Chevrolet Malibu, 2004-2007 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx, 2005-2010 Pontiac G6 and 2007-2010 Saturn Aura. Corrosion in the faulty brake light can disable cruise control, traction control, electronic stability control and panic braking assist feature.
This has been a difficult year for GM. Thirteen deaths were linked to a faulty ignition switch on the Chevrolet Cobalt and similar vehicles early this year.
