Four members of Fox Chapel’s golf team were injured in a one vehicle crash on Wednesday. Police believe the four young men were on their way to Oakmont Country Club to practice golf. The accident occurred on Field Club Road. According to police, as the SUV was traveling down the road, the driver lost control and started up an embankment, causing the SUV to roll onto its roof. While inverted, the SUV sliced through a utility pole and took out a transformer. Power lines then fell onto the SUV.
When police arrived, one of the passengers was attempting to get out of the vehicle. Police ordered everyone else in the vehicle to stay put until the power was shut off. In minutes the power was off and they were able to get the other two passengers out. The driver had to be sedated my medical professionals before they could extract him from the vehicle due to the high potential for pain. The extent of all the boy’s injuries is unknown at this time.
Police do believe speed was a factor but no charges have been filed until further investigation is done.
