Monday morning, in Pittsburgh’s South Side Slopes neighborhood, a head-on collision occurred, between a minivan and a cement truck. The accident occurred near the intersection of S. 18th Street and Crossman Street.
According to police, the minivan and the cement truck struck each other head on. The minivan then crashed into a parked vehicle.
Medics removed the driver of the minivan and transported him to a local hospital in critical condition. The one passenger in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the cement truck was able to exit their vehicle and was then taken to the hospital in stable condition.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
It has not been confirmed, however, most head-on collisions result from distracted driving. Distracted driving is not only illegal it is deadly. Texting is the biggest form of distracted driving we see today and sadly, innocent lives are being lost because of it. Do your part by avoiding distractions in the vehicle and never text and drive.
