One man has died in an accident that occurred on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The man was a construction worker who was attempting to drive his backhoe across the eastbound lanes, just outside the Kittatinny Tunnel, when he was struck. A vehicle crashed into the back bucket of his backhoe, throwing the victim from the machine. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver and passenger of the at-fault vehicle were both transported to nearby hospitals with minor injuries.
It has not been confirmed as to why the driver failed to stop and crashed into the backhoe. An investigation is ongoing.
