There is a listing for multiple myeloma in the Social Security Administration’s Blue Book of impairment listings — Section 13.07 – Multiple Myeloma. Under this listing, you may qualify for disability benefits if:

Your test results confirm your diagnosis, including:

• Serum or urine protein electrophoresis; and
• Bone marrow tests.

And:

• You did not respond to initial treatment; or
• Your disease progresses.

You Could Qualify If You Had a Bone Marrow or Stem Cell Transplant

You could also receive approval for disability benefits if you required a bone marrow or stem cell transplant to treat your multiple myeloma. If approved under this listing, the Social Security Administration will review your claim after 12 months to determine if you still qualify.
