Defective Product Law and Taxotere
Thousands of lawsuits are pending against manufacturer Sanofi-Aventis U.S. LLC in a mass tort in Louisiana. The court will hear the first cases in 2019. The plaintiffs who filed these suits claim that chemotherapy drug Taxotere and generic docetaxel cause long-term or permanent alopecia—and that the drug company knew they would suffer lasting hair loss but did not warn them adequately.
If your hair never regrew after undergoing cancer treatment with Taxotere or docetaxel, an attorney from Berger and Green will review your case for free. Call a Taxotere lawsuit lawyer today at 412-661-1400 to get started.

Sanofi-Aventis’ chemotherapy drug Taxotere became available for cancer patients in 1996. The drug company primarily markets it as a treatment for:
- Breast cancer
- Stomach cancer
- Head and neck cancers
- Non-small cell lung cancer
- Metastatic prostate cancer
The chemotherapy medication is often effective as a part of the prescribed cocktail, but the side effects can be life-altering. As early as 2010, there were links between this drug and permanent hair loss among cancer survivors.
- A 2010 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine documented that many of the women in their study never regrew their hair after receiving Taxotere and completing their treatment.
- According to the documents filed in connection with the ongoing mass tort, another study conducted by the Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in 2014 put a figure of between 10 and 15 percent of cancer survivors who will not regrow their hair within 3.5 years of completing their treatment with Taxotere.
Following these studies, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration added a warning about alopecia and permanent hair loss on the Taxotere package inserts and product labels in 2015.

Contact Us Now For HelpYou May Be Eligible to Pursue Damages from the Drug Manufacturer
If you were one of the thousands of cancer survivors who never regrew your hair after undergoing chemotherapy that used Taxotere or a generic version, you might be eligible to join multidistrict litigation or file your own case against the drug manufacturer.
Companies that make and market drugs have a responsibility to do so in a safe, ethical way that ensures those who need the drugs understand both the benefits and the risks. If, as the lawsuit alleges, Sanofi-Aventis knew about the risk of permanent hair loss, it failed inadequately warning cancer patients of all the known risks.
If a Taxotere lawsuit lawyer can reach a fair settlement offer or win an award in court on your behalf, you could recover damages that include:
- Expenses related to hair loss treatments
- Out-of-pocket costs related to your alopecia
- Mental anguish and emotional distress
We will help you document your related expenses and losses, and work closely with you and experts, when necessary, to put a value on the distress, anguish, and suffering this cost you. We understand how much hair loss can affect you both psychologically and socially, and we will fight to help you get the payout you deserve.
You need an attorney with the experience and dedication to give your case the care it deserves.
Start A Free EvaluationThe Multidistrict Litigation Includes More than 11,000 Plaintiffs
When the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation saw that more than 1,500 cancer survivors filed suit against the drug company that marketed Taxotere, Sanofi-Aventis, it agreed to consolidate the cases into a mass tort. This multidistrict litigation, MDL 2740, is underway in the Eastern District of Louisiana and currently has more than 11,000 plaintiffs involved.
As a part of the MDL process, a single judge oversees the discovery process and any pretrial motions for the entire group of plaintiffs. As of June 2019, the case is in the process of scheduling the initial bellwether cases. These cases offer both sides a good idea about how local judges and juries may react when these cases return to their original jurisdictions.
We can address all the legal hurdles that may be keeping you from getting a fair settlement.
