Latest Peach Recall Expanded Due to Salmonella Contamination.
The CDC has expanded the recall of peaches as part of a salmonella outbreak that has sickened 78 people.
Previously, Target and Aldi were involved in the ongoing recall. The CDC has now added more retailers to the growing list including: Food Lion, Hannaford, Kroger, Russ David Wholesale, Walmart, and Wegmans.
The FDA and the CDC are investigating an ongoing “multistate outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections linked to bagged peaches.”
Currently, 78 people, from 12 different states, have been infected with salmonella due to the recalled peaches.
Any consumer who has bought either loose or bagged peaches at any of the above stores should not consume them and contact the place of purchase for a refund.
If you want to know if your peaches are safe, you can visit the FDA’s website where they show photos and UPC codes for the affected products.
The investigation is ongoing. The CDC hopes to identify any other retailers selling the contaminated peaches.
