Ford Recalls F-150 Trucks Due to an Electrical Defect.
Ford has issued a recall on 168,000 F-150 pickup trucks over an electrical defect that could cause engines to stall or catch fire.
Ford says the issue is with the battery terminal fastener. The fastener may not be secured, causing systems to malfunction including power braking, steering assist and the instrument panel display.
There can also be electrical shorts causing smoke, fire and engines to stall.
The recall affects certain Ford F-150 trucks from 2019 and 2020 model years.
Ford says affected consumers can bring their vehicles to dealerships where mechanics will inspect the battery cable joint and remove any excess adhesive that may cause the problem. They will then reassemble and tighten the joint.
Ford says there have been no accidents, fires or injuries associated with the recall.
Owners will be notified beginning the week of November 25, 2019.
