Dog Goods USA Recalls Pig Ear Chews for Dogs due to Salmonella Outbreak.
Pennsylvania based company, Dog Goods USA, is recalling their Chef Toby Pig Ears Treats for dogs due to salmonella outbreak. The treats were sold nationwide.
The recall was issued after a sample from their Brazilian supplier tested positive for salmonella.
The Food and Drug Administration, along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have been investigating a suspected link between the treats and human cases of salmonella. They contacted Dog Goods to inform them of the possible contamination.
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause a serious infection in humans and dogs.
Pet owners should watch for lethargy, diarrhea, fever and vomiting.
The products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
So far there have been no reports of illness due to the consumption of these products.
If in fact the link between the treats and human cases of salmonella is found to be true, a product liability claim could be pursued.
