Honda Begins Final Phase of Takata Airbag Recall.
The automobile manufacturer, Honda, is recalling 1.6 million more vehicles due to defective Takata airbags. This is Honda’s fifth and final phase of recalls regarding the defective airbags.
The Takata airbag recall is the largest automobile recall in U.S history that includes 19 automobile manufacturers and over 42 million vehicles.
The latest recall involves airbags in Honda and Acura models from 2003-2015
Car owners can check their vehicle’s recall status at www.recalls.acura.com and www.recalls.honda.com or by calling (888) 234-2138.
Owners of affected vehicles will begin being notified mid-August.
This is the fifth and final phase of the Takata airbag recall for Honda. After this recall is complete, Honda will have recalled and accounted for 12.9 million vehicles.
The faulty Takata airbags have been responsible for 24 deaths and hundreds of injuries world-wide. The inflators carry the risk of exploding when deployed, releasing sharp, metal fragments.
