Peaches and nectarines sold at several Walmarts across the country including Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, are being recalled due to listeria concerns. The recall involves 1,727 cartons of fresh peaches and 1,207 cartons of fresh nectarines.
The recall was issued after a routine sampling found traces of listeria in the fruit.
The recalled peaches and nectarines were sold as a bulk retail produce item with a PLU sticker (PLU# 4044, 3035, 4378) showing the country of origin of Chile.
Anyone who has bought the recalled produce should throw it away or contact the place of purchase for a refund.
Listeria can cause serious infections that primarily affect older adults, those with weakened immune systems and pregnant women and their newborns.
No illnesses have been reported so far.
