Giant Eagle is voluntarily recalling their Smokey Mozzarella Pasta Salad due to a possible listeria and salmonella risk. The recall was issued after one of the company’s suppliers notified them that the red pepper used in the pasta salad could be contaminated.
The recalled pasta salads have an effective date of October 17th. It has a product number of PLU 76578. Additional pasta salad was also sold at the store’s salad bar.
Giant Eagle urges anyone who has bought the recalled pasta salad to return it for a full refund.
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause a serious infection. The elderly, children and those with weak immune systems can have serious and even fatal complications.
Listeria can also cause serious infections that primarily affect older adults, those with weakened immune systems and pregnant women and their newborns.
No illnesses have been reported so far.
