The multi-vehicle accident happened around Washington and Mt. Lebanon Boulevard. Police had to close the road for several hours so they could investigate the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident sustained back injuries and was taken to UPMC Presbyterian. The driver and passenger that were in the vehicle that was sideswiped suffered from back and leg injuries and were taken to UPMC Mercy. The driver who was involved in the head-on collision was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be removed by firefighters. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Allegheny General Hospital. The driver of the fourth vehicle that was hit did not sustain any injuries.
An investigation is underway to determine if charges need to be filed.
