Kellogg’s is voluntarily recalling their Honey Smacks Cereal due to a possible salmonella risk. The recall was issued after several people reported illnesses to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The Michigan based manufacturer, Kellogg’s, is recalling 15.3-ounce and 23-ounce boxes of Honey Smacks Cereal. Kellogg’s has confirmed that none of their other cereals have been affected.
The FDA says Kellogg’s has launched an investigation into a third-party manufacturer that makes the cereal after receiving several reports of illnesses.
The cereal was distributed across the United States, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, the Caribbean, Guam, Tahiti and Saipan.
The affected cereal has a UPC code of 3800039103 (15.3-ounce boxes) and 3800014810 (23-ounce boxes) and a best by date of June 14, 2018-June 14, 2019.
Kellogg’s urges anyone who has purchased the cereal, to throw it away and contact the company for a full refund. You can visit kelloggs.com/honeysmackrecall or call 1-800-962-1413 for more information.
