A woman was killed after a self-driving Uber car struck her. The woman was crossing the street outside of the marked crosswalk.
Reports say that the self-driving Uber car was traveling 40 mph when it struck the woman. The car was in self-driving mode but had a safety driver. The safety driver is a person who is supposed to step in and manually drive the car if there is an issue.
Uber announced that they have temporarily stopped all self-driving car testing at this time in Pittsburgh, San Francisco and Toronto.
In an instance such as this, it is unknown as to who can or will be held accountable for this accident; the company or the safety driver.
The accident is still under a thorough investigation.
Recovering compensation after an accident.
If a loved one was killed in an accident, it is important to contact a personal injury attorney right away to review your family’s rights. You may be able to file a civil wrongful death claim.
Pursuing a claim after losing a loved one will never fill the void left by a loved one’s passing away. It is not a matter of profiting for the family left behind, but rather recovering. The recovery of damages can alleviate the unexpected funeral costs and expenses accrued when a loved one passes.
