On Thanksgiving Day, a young family was killed after their car was crashed into and burst into flames in North Versailles.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Route 30 and Route 48 when a car being chased by police, ran a red light and crashed into the vehicle.
The chase began after police pulled the vehicle over for making an illegal turn. They soon learned that he was driving without a license and had a warrant out for his arrest for a probation violation that stemmed from drug charges. Once back up police arrived on the scene the man took off.

Police pursued the vehicle until the man crashed into two other vehicles at the intersection of Route 30 and Route 48. One of the vehicles carrying a young man, woman and child, burst into flames when it was crashed into. All three were killed instantly.
The occupants of the other vehicle involved were injured as well and taken to nearby hospitals. The extent of their injuries has not been released.
The driver who struck and killed the family is facing three counts of homicide. The family of the victims may also file a civil wrongful death claim.
